Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam (MMVS) is the Women's Association of the Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Syrian Church. Founded in 1920, the association was established to foster spiritual progress among the women of the Church. The founders chose the name in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, accepting her as their interceding saint.
MMVS is a vital ministry encompassing all female members above the age of 18. Today, it functions globally across all 28 dioceses and within every parish. Spiritual growth is nurtured through diocese-wide conferences, retreats, and seminars. In the South-West American Diocese, the organization thrives under the spiritual leadership of His Grace Dr. Zacharias Mar Aprem.
Our parish unit, guided by our clergy, remains active through monthly prayer meetings, talent competitions, and diocesan conferences. MMVS is deeply committed to charity, supporting projects such as:
Patronal celebrations culminate on August 15, designated as Women’s Day, commemorating the Feast of Dormition of St. Mary.
The Diocesan led Bible Study Classes will be on Wednesdays at 8:00PM Central Time.
