Established in 1978 with just 30 students and 7 teachers, our Sunday School has since grown into the largest in the American Diocese of the Indian Orthodox Church. As a vital wing of the Indian Orthodox Sunday School, we nurture the spiritual development of our children within the rich traditions of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
Currently, we host classes from Pre-K through 12th grade, serving approximately 250 students with a dedicated staff of 40 teachers. Sessions begin at 11:15 AM following the Holy Liturgy, opening with morning prayer and hymns led by our students.
We strictly adhere to the curriculum approved and published by the Joint Curriculum Committee, Sunday School Director of the South-West American Diocese. Our academic year runs from September to May. Beyond textbook lessons, classroom instruction includes Bible stories, songs, verses, projects, and general topics related to Orthodox life.
Our teachers are committed to excellence, submitting weekly lesson plans to the clergy and principal for review to ensure our students receive the highest quality spiritual education.
In addition to weekly classes, we conduct various activities to showcase the talents of our youth, including Spring Fest, vocal competitions, Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS), service projects, and our annual Christmas program.
The success of our ministry is rooted in the grace of God, the guidance of our clergy, and the shared dedication of our teachers and parents. Contact your child’s teacher to find out how you can help support and improve the Sunday School ministry.
